COVID-19 Travel Guidance

The Moroccan Government announced a further extension to the State of Health Emergency until 10 October. Moroccan authorities categorises provinces/prefectures in Morocco into two zones according to the pandemic situation in each province/prefecture. The categorisation of prefectures/provinces can change at short notice, and if a large number of new COVID-19 cases is detected in a city/prefecture/province, local restrictions may be applied immediately.

Morocco has reopened its borders to business travellers and foreigners who have confirmed hotel reservations. The restrictions applies to nationals of visa-exempt countries, visitors are required present a negative COVID-19 test that is no more than 48 hours old, wearing face masks in public places is still required.

Direct flights between UK and Marrakech have not yet resumed, travellers are able to travel to Marrakech with a transit stop at France or Spain, please check government guidelines before booking tickets as flights get cancelled on daily basis.

You will need to self-isolate if you visited or made a transit stop in a country, territory or region that is not listed on the UK government website (travel corridor list can be found here)

You may not have to self-isolate if you are travelling from one of the countries, territories or regions listed, but you will still need to complete the passenger locator form before you enter the UK.

A transit stop is a stop where passengers can get on or off. It can apply to coaches, ferries, trains or flights. Your ticket should show if a stop is a transit stop.

If your journey involves a transit stop in a country, territory or region not on the travel corridor list, you will need to self-isolate when you arrive in England if:

• new passengers get on
• you or other passengers get off the transport you are on and mix with other people, then get on again

You don’t need to self-isolate beyond normal timescales if, during your transit stop in a non-exempt country, territory or region:

• no new passengers get on
• no-one on-board gets off and mixes with people outside
• passengers get off but do not get back on

If anyone travelling is concerned they have signs and symptoms, they should contact NHS 111 in UK or contact the Moroccan COVID-19 hotline (0801004747 or 141 or 300. If you need help with translation, you should call +212 (0) 537 63 33 33), some of the coronavirus symptoms are; a high temperature, a new/continuous cough or a loss or change to your sense of smell/taste.

Our test involves taking temperature of all guests from the moment they arrive at Marrakech Menara Airport and every time guests enter our villas, one of our friendly staff will also wipe your luggage with anti-bacterial spray before entering the villa.

To stop COVID-19 (coronavirus) spreading and to protect yourself when travelling to Marrakech, please wash your hands with soap on regular basis, use hand sanitiser gel when in public spaces (avoid touching your face), wear face mask to cover your mouth and nose in populated areas.
